Centrally located within the City of Miramichi, French Fort Cove serves as a local nature and recreation park. The rich, and at times, haunting history of French Fort Cove and its early settlers peaks the interest of many visitors year round. In addition to everyday activities, each winter the annual Miramichi Rotary Pond Hockey Tournament takes place at French Fort Cove. The Cove also plays host to a number of charity fundraisers throughout the year.
Home to many natural species of flora
and fauna, French Fort Cove is an excellent location for naturalists. For those who seek a more active experience, French Fort Cove offers a variety of walking, hiking and biking trails throughout the lush wilderness. The more adventurous thrill seekers are invited to Dare the Dark with the Headless Nun.
The French Fort Cove Commission has transformed the Cove into an area in which people of all ages can enjoy themselves. Miramichi Landings plans to rejuvenate this landmark location by upgrading many of the natural aspects and existing structures in the coming years.
